Death Resolutions

Death Resolution Criteria

Death Resolutions are issued through the Office of the Secretary for deceased members of the Howard University family, friends, dignitaries, and others as specifically defined, per the criteria. Upon appropriate notification and/or request, it is the policy of the Office of the Secretary to produce and deliver a death resolution with the President's signature for the following categories of persons:  

Howard University Family
Employees
Students
Former Employees
Alumni
Trustees
Dignitaries
Family Members of Employees, Trustees, and Former Trustees  (as listed below)
Mothers
Fathers
Spouses
Children
Friends of the University
Important Relationships
Donors

If the Decedent is a member of any of the categories above, please complete the Request Form, making sure to save the information into the form, and email the completed form to os@howard.edu (Office of the Secretary).  An OS staff member will be in touch via the contact information provided on the form.  As possible, please provide four (4) days advance notice for time-sensitive requests. Thank you.
