Presidential Search Update

Dear Members of the Howard University Community,

I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of the summer. It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar faces on campus as we embark on the upcoming academic year.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am writing to share an update on our search for the 18th President of Howard University.

I am pleased to announce that we have hired a leading specialized higher education search firm, Isaacson Miller, to ensure Howard casts a wide and strategic net to find the best candidate to succeed Dr. Frederick following his planned retirement within the next two years. Isaacson Miller has vast experience in conducting presidential searches and has recruited leaders to some of our nation’s leading institutions, including HBCUs. They will work in close partnership with the Board and the soon-to-be formed Presidential Search Committee as we begin this incredibly important work for Howard.

Throughout the process, we will be seeking feedback, suggestions, and questions with respect to the presidential search from all Howard community members. To share updates, we have launched a webpage to house information regarding the Presidential search, the search committee (once finalized) and subsequent updates for the university community. Additionally, we will be establishing time for listening sessions with members of the community to continue leveraging diverse perspectives to find the candidates best suited to Howard and our community’s needs. More information on these important initiatives will be available in the weeks to come.
